The UK has a generally mild, temperate, and highly changeable climate. Rain, regarded as synonymous with Britain's weather, is fairly well distributed throughout the year. The west is generally wetter than the east, and the south warmer than the north. The most extreme weather conditions occur in the mountains of Scotland, Wales and northern England.
